Mozilla's hopping onboard the instant messaging train in partnership with Instantbird, a multiprotocol messenger client you can use to access different networks, among them: MSN, Yahoo! Messenger, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, ICQ, QQ, and XMPP.
Still in its preliminary phases, Instantbird lets you have IM conversations and not much else. It still doesn't include emoticons or avatars.

Other instant messaging networks that can be accessed with Instantbird include the following: GroupWise, MySpaceIM, Simple, Zephyr, and Netsoul.
